
Inclusive Islam Curriculum Unit 7
Unit 7 introduces students to the idea that diversity is part of God’s design helping children learn to appreciate their own uniqueness. Throughout the unit, students will learn how people differ in many ways, including appearance, abilities, cultures, family structures, and beliefs, and how to show empathy, kindness, and respect for others, regardless of their differences. Students will also learn how Islam values peaceful coexistence and that the differences among people, including religious differences, are part of the richness of the world God created.

God Made Me Special
In Lesson 1, students are introduced to the idea that God made each of us with love and purpose. They will explore what makes them special, including their talents, interests, and personality, and learn that these qualities are part of God’s unique design. Students will be encouraged to accept and love themselves as they are and will learn about the importance of caring for their bodies and minds as a way of honoring the gift of life.

Students will also begin to observe and appreciate the differences and similarities between themselves and others, such as in appearance, abilities, and interests. Throughout the lesson, children will be reminded that these differences are part of God’s beautiful design, and that every person is equally valued and loved by God.
